Addiction and Mental Health

I believe addiction and mental health illnesses affect not only the person diagnosed but their loved ones and caregivers, as well. I also believe, understanding a person's culture and life experiences are critical for successful counseling.I approach counseling using a variety of therapeutic techniques that include Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe the way we think about ourselves can have a positive and/or negative impact on our daily lives.
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Anger Resolution Therapist. I have a certificate in the treatment of compulsive shopping and spending from the Shulman Center for Compulsive Theft, Spending and Hoarding.
My education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University, a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University, a Master of Education degree in Community Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. I am currently pursuing a PhD from the International Institute of Clinical Sexology.
